Fiona Watt krijgt 2016 “EMBO/EMBL Women in Science” prijs

Elk jaar eren FEBS en EMBO een vrouwelijke wetenschapper voor haar uitzonderlijke bijdrage aan de life sciences in de afgelopen vijf jaar. De winnares van de FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award voor 2016 is Fiona Watt.

Prof. Watt (Directeur van het Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine aan King’s College London) ontvangt de 2016 EMBO/EMBL Women in Science prijs voor haar werk op het gebied van stamcelvernieuwing en -differentiatie. (Zie het Persbericht). Ze zal haar prijs van €10,000 en een sculptuur “Touching the Sun” van Marloes Eerden op het jaarlijkse FEBS Congress ontvangen, waar ze ook een plenaire lezing zal geven.

De prijs wordt toegekend sinds 2008. Vorige prijswinnaressen zijn Caroline Dean (UK), Pascale Cossart (FR), Geneviere Almouzni (FR), Susan M. Gasser (CH), Carol V. Robinson (UK), Ingrid Grummt (DE), Anne Houdusse (FR) and Naama Barkai (IL).
