Call for nominations H.G.K Westenbrink award 2016-2017

The Netherlands Foundation for the Advancement of Biochemistry (SSBN) has opened the call for nominations for the H.G.K Westenbrink award. This award will be given to the best PhD thesis in the field of biochemistry, defended at a Dutch university in the academic year 2016-2017.

The award consists of a certificate and a prize of € 2000 in cash, at full disposal of the laureate for enhancing his or her scientific career. The award will be presented at the upcoming NVBMB Fall symposium, where the laureate will be given the opportunity to present his or her work.

Candidates need to have defended at a university in The Netherlands on a topic in the field of biochemistry in a broad sense, in the period July 1 2016- June 30 2017. Eligible candidates can be nominated by their PhD (co)promotor by sending a letter of recommendation, a CV of the candidate, five hardcopies of the thesis and a link to a digital version of the thesis to the SSBN secretariat (h.van.ingen@lic.leidenuniv.nl).  Deadline for nominations is July 15th.

The award jury is headed by prof. dr. Saskia van der Vies and further consists of prof. dr. John van der Oost, prof. dr. Rob Kaptein,  prof. dr. Arnold Driessen and dr. Yves Bollen.
