What we do
Currently, Young NVBMB organizes lunch lectures and drink lectures on topics related to the NVBMB. We want to organize more activities besides these lectures, but that will be in the future when the Young NVBMB has been more established.
Young NVBMB also provides information on what type of grants younger researchers can apply for. NVBMB normally provides this information, but the Young NVBMB has added extra information and explanations focused on students and younger researchers. We also want to ensure information such as about the FEBS Congresses reaches the students, so they can find out about different research areas of molecular life sciences. The NVBMB, FEBS and IUBMB provide several opportunities for awards and fellowships for PhD students. In the Netherlands, Bachelor and Master students already do some research, so they would be interested in what research options are available to them, especially as they need to know before the end of their studies what area they want to go into.
Young NVBMB is part of the FEBS Junior Section. FEBS JS develops joint activities and share resources, as well as open doors for young European scientists to opportunities outside their home countries by providing the relevant contacts and fostering communication within the network. A key current focus is organizing academic and career online talks from key researchers. We participate in the organizing committee of FEBS Young Scientistss Forum (YSF) in Wageningen in 2026.
