Life2019 - the first NWO life sciences conference
The first NWO life sciences conference called Life2019 will take place on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 May 2019 at the Postillion Convention Centre, Bunnik. The theme of the congress is “Communication in life”.
Life2019 is meant to connect researchers covering the broad spectrum of the Dutch Life Sciences, to explore boundaries, to lively discuss new or desirable developments in the field and to get inspired to start new interdisciplinary collaborations. Eleven internationally renowned speakers have already confirmed their oral presentation:
Plenary keynotes: Iain Couzin (collective behaviour) and Ottoline Leyser (plant development)
Track 1: Cellular chat – Talking to your neighbours:
Hans Clevers (communication of stem cells in the intestine) and Sigal Ben Yehuda (communication between bacteria)
Track 2: From small talk to full blown discussions; Communication from genes to an organism:
Wolf Reik (epigenetic reprogramming) and Duncan Odom (genome evolution)
Track 3: Perceive and respond:
Angela Douglas (animal-microbial symbioses and nutritional physiology) and David Reznick (evolutionary adaptation)
Track 4: The natural world in the Anthropocene:
Louise Vet (ecology and evolution of multitrophic interactions) and one to be announced.
Track 5: Pushing the boundaries: novel approaches in biological measurement and analysis:
Marileen Dogterom (nanobiology, synthetic cell, cytoskeleton) and Gavin Sherlock (experimental evolution in microbial systems).
